Dr. Andrew Godwin is a board-certified General Surgeon with fellowship training in Bariatric, Minimally Invasive, and Advanced Gastrointestinal Surgery. He completed his General Surgery residency at Northwell Health, and went on to complete a fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital, specializing in a minimally invasive approach to Bariatric and Advanced GI procedures. Dr. Godwin joined Northwell Health in August 2025, after seven years in a private practice setting.His expertise spans a broad spectrum of abdominal procedures, including hernia repair, appendicitis, and complex revisional bariatric surgeries. He also performs uncommon procedures for Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome (SMAS) and Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome (MALS) using minimally invasive techniques, offering patients less postoperative pain, faster recovery, and improved outcomes in conditions that are often difficult to diagnose and manage.Dr. Godwin is also certified on the da Vinci Surgical System, enabling him to perform advanced robotic-assisted procedures that improve surgical precision, reduce recovery time, and enhance patient outcomes.An advocate for evidence-based medicine, Dr. Godwin has contributed to several peer-reviewed research publications and presented nationally on topics including endoscopic stenting and the impact of revisional surgery on comorbidities.
