Dr. Pooja R. Shah is a distinguished, board-certified dermatologist and Associate Professor at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. She serves as Director of Dermatology at the Katz Institute for Women's Health and Director of Women's Skin Health & Wellness at Northwell Health, demonstrating her leadership in advancing dermatologic care. She also leads key institutional initiatives as Specialty Educator for EPIC Go-Live and Wellness Champion for Northwell Health Physician Partners.Dr. Shah graduated as class salutatorian from Macaulay Honors College at CUNY Hunter, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in Behavioral Neuroscience and double minors in Biology and Religious Studies. Recognized for her academic excellence and leadership potential, she was one of only ten immigrant students selected nationwide to receive the prestigious Merage Foundation Fellowship for the American Dream.She earned her medical degree with distinction in Community Service and Global Health from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. Dr. Shah completed her preliminary internship in internal medicine at North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where she was honored with the 'Intern of the Year' award. She went on to complete her dermatology residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where patients recognized her with the 'Strong Star' award for compassion, respect, and exceptional care. Furthermore, she was also a recipient of the Women's Dermatologic Society Mentorship Award, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Resident Scholarship, and Advanced Resident Training & Education in Dermatology Scholarship.Dr. Shah's expertise spans medical dermatology, procedural and surgical dermatology, women's skin health, integrative dermatology, and skin of color. She is an active member of several national professional organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology, AAD Women's Health Expert Resource Group, Long Island Dermatological Society, and Vulvar Dermatoses Research Consortium. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed literature and serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for leading journals, including the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and the International Journal of Women's Dermatology. Dr. Shah is a frequent invited speaker at both local and national dermatology conferences.Dr. Shah is dedicated to expanding access to high-quality dermatologic care, advancing patient education, and supporting underserved communities through ongoing outreach. She is passionate about mentoring the next generation of physicians and remains a committed advocate for physician wellness and medical education at every level.
